ERD foundation has already signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with different R&D organizations & Universities such as :-

CSIR-NEIST

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 24th February, 2012 with CSIR-North East Institute of Science & Technology (NEIST), Jorhat which is a constituent establishment of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.

The CSIR- NEIST, formerly RRL, Jorhat was established in the year 1961 as one of the multidisciplinary laboratories of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) under its Chemical Science Group of laboratories. Its major thrust of R&D activities has been to develop indigeneous technologies by utilising the immense natural wealth of India. The North Eastern Region of the country being bestowed with an abundance of material resources like petroleum, natural Gas, Minerals, Tea as well as aromatic and Medicinal plants and hence the laboratories was targeted to undertake research for development of Know-How for a wide a range of industries and extension works. Over the years, the laboratory has generated more than 100 technologies in the areas of Agrotechnology, Biological and Oil Field Chemicals of which about 40% were of commercial success culminating in setting up of various industries throughout the country. The laboratory also developed expertise in the areas like Natural Products Chemistry, drug and drug intermediates, VSK cement, Plant Technology, Agro-technologies, Petroleum Microbiology and Petrochemicals, Crude oil transportation, Paper and Paper Products, beneficiation Chemicals, ecology and environmental studies, Geotechnical investigations, foundation design engineering, soil and building materials etc.

Purpose & Objectives:

The purpose of this MoU is to create a framework for collaboration between CSIR-NEIST and ERDF Group of Institutions with the objectives as given below:

a) To establish close linkage and functional coordination between CSIR-NEIST and ERDF along with the ERDF established Institutions eg. University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM), Regional Institute of Science and Technology (RIST) and Regional College of Higher Education.
b) To recognize CSIR-NEIST as an accredited research centre for research and study directed by ERDF established Institutions and vice versa.
c) To consider the qualified scientists, scholars and professional of CSIR-NEIST as an accredited faculty/guide for different research, teaching programmes of ERDF established Institutions and vice versa.
d) To facilitate joint seeking of funds and conduct of research, submission of project for research and development, training and consultancy with university /institutions in India and abroad.
e) CSIR-NEIST and ERDF shall support each other towards the advancement of knowledge of the employees, faculty, scholars and students of both the organizations.
f) ERDF will provide all facilities to the employees (Scientifc and Technical staff) and scholars (Research Fellows and Project Assistants) of CSIR-NEIST to enroll for M.Tech and Ph.D. programme at the University of Science and Technology (USTM) established by ERDF under joint supervision.
g) CSIR-NEIST shall provide necessary facility to the students and faculty of University of Science and Technology (USTM) to conduct research required for partial fulfilment of requirements leading to the award of M. Tech and Ph.D. degree by USTM.
h) CSIR-NEIST and ERDF shall support each other towards the advancement of knowledge of the employees, faculty, scholars and students of both the organizations.
i) ERDF will provide all facilities to the employees (Scientific and Technical staff) and scholars (Research Fellows and Project Assistants) of CSIR-NEIST to enroll for M.Tech and Ph.D. programme at the University of Science and Technology (USTM) established by ERDF under joint supervision.
j) CSIR-NEIST shall provide necessary facility to the students and faculty of University of Science and Technology (USTM) to conduct research required for partial fulfillment of requirements leading to the award of M. Tech and Ph.D. degree by USTM.

CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), New Delhi

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 3rd May, 2012 with CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), New Delhi.

CSIR-CRRI, a premier national laboratory established in 1952, a constituent of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has expertise and capabilities for conducting research & development activities and carrying out consultancy assignments including dissemination of knowledge through training etc. in the areas of roads & bridges, traffic and transportation, ground improvement and geotechnical engineering, rural roads, pavement design, pavement performance and its evaluation, instrumentation, environment and road safety.

Purpose & Objectives:

The purpose of this MoU is to create a framework for collaboration between CSIR-CRRI and ERDF group of Institutions with the objectives as given below:

h) CSIR-CRRI shall extend facilities to a limited number of M.Sc/B.Tech students of ERDF Institutions for short duration summer/winter training courses at CSIR-CRRI under the relevant CSIR guidelines.

NIT, Silchar

A Memorandum of Academic Consultancy was signed on 29th of November, 2014 with National Institute of Technology, Silchar.

National Institute of Technology, Silchar is an Institute of national importance established under the NIT Act, 2007 by the government of India offering Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral degrees in various disciplines of science and technology. It is an Institute of higher learning with a rich resource base in scientific manpower, and is committed to establish an unique identity by development of high quality human and knowledge resources in diverse areas of sciences and technologies to meet local, national, and global economic and social need and human society at large in self-sustained manner. NIT, Silchar is committed to provide employment oriented higher education and promote research in areas of special and emerging fields of Engineering and Technology. NIT, Silchar is currently one of the preferred Technical Institutes in the country.

Purpose & Objectives:

NITS will guide RIST and USTM to achieve its objectives, through various programs for the academic promotion and administrative guidance with the following :

a) NITS will guide RIST/USTM for academic promotion by mentoring and training the faculty, curriculum upgradation, and taking special classes by NITS Faculty members. NITS will cooperate with ERDF in organizing academic seminars, workshops etc.
b) NITS will guide RIST/USTM in administration for hiring quality faculty members.
c) NITS will guide RIST/USTM in managing their research programs and mentor the scholars when needed. NITS will also guide the faculty in preparing the DPR for projects, collaborative activities by taking lead. Both will reciprocally facilitate Science/technology based innovation and fact-findings resulting into Business development activities.
d) NITS will guide RIST/USTM in upgrading their infrastructure like laboratories, equipments, library, class rooms, recreational facilities, hostels, campus maintenance by providing necessary specifications and operational guidance where required.

Tezpur University

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 13th day of December 2014 with Tezpur University.

Tezpur University is a Central University, established by an Act of Parliament in 1994. It is one of the premier Central University of the country. The objective of the University is to strive to provide employment oriented higher education and promote research in areas which are of special and direct relevance to the region in the emerging areas of Science and Technology, to meet the regional to national aspirations, and development of the Region.

Purpose & Objectives:

Tezpur University will mentor the upcoming university to achieve its objectives, through various programmes for the academic promotion and administrative guidance with the following identified but not limited to:

a) Tezpur University will guide USTM in Academic promotion, by mentoring and training the faculty (by syllabus up-gradation, and taking special classes by Tezpur University Faculty). The universities will cooperate with each other to jointly organize academic seminars.
b) Tezpur University will guide USTM in administration, quality faculty recruitment.
c) Tezpur University will guide the USTM in managing their research programmes and mentor the scholars when needed. Tezpur University will also guide the faculty in preparing the DPR for projects, collaborative activities by taking lead. The Universities will, as far as practicable, exchange research information and experienced researchers with a view to mutually promote research in Science & Technology and related activities between them. The Universities will reciprocally facilitate Science based innovation and fact-findings resulting into Business development activities.
d) Tezpur University will guide USTM in upgrading of university infrastructure like laboratories, equipments, library, class rooms, recreational facilities, hostels, campus maintenance by providing necessary specifications and operational guidance where required.

Bamboo and Cane Development Institute (BCDI)

A MOU with Bamboo and Cane Development Institute (BCDI), Ministry of Textiles, Govt of India was signed on 20/12/2012 for promoting research in the area of technology and design and product development in the cane and bamboo sector in North East India.

Bamboo and Cane Development Institute (BCDI) is an apex organization set up under the aegis of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts ), Ministry of Textiles, Govt.of India with an objective to fill up the gap in the area of Technology driven and Design and Product Development services in the Cane & Bamboo Sector. The basic objective of BCDI is to build and create technology driven and design oriented excellence in the cane and Bamboo sector of North East and provide sustainable forward and backward linkages by creating marketing opportunities. BCDI is providing array of services to the cane & Bamboo sector so as to withstand the fierce competition in the international markets. Technical & International Marketing Experts and National & International Designers are working with BCDI for imparting latest Technology and design led services to the Industry. To fulfill the above objectives BCDI has developed a Road Map for providing the best and market acceptable product and developmental services to the sector.

Purpose & Objectives:

a) Start of various courses on Bamboo and Cane like: -

  • B. Tech course in Cane & Bamboo Technology
  • PG Diploma in Bamboo cultivation and Resource utilization
  • Ph. D / Research Programme
  • Establishing a BCDI Satellite Centre at the USTM Campus for the benefit of craftsmen and industries in Meghalaya state.

  • b) The One year Post Graduate Diploma Course in Bamboo Cultivation and Resource Utilization and any other such courses shall be jointly organized by USTM and BCDI
    c) The Course Curriculum for the one year Post Graduate Diploma Course in Bamboo Cultivation and Resource Utilization and any other such courses shall be jointly prepared by USTM and BCDI experts.
    d) Post Graduate Diploma Course in Bamboo Cultivation and Resource Utilization shall be conducted in two halves of 6 months each and shall include the theory and lectures in the USTM Campus and practical hands on Bamboo Processing machines at the BCDI premises.
    e) Both the organizations shall work together for making the courses industry oriented and job oriented and shall be leading towards the model courses for Cane and Bamboo sector.
    f) Whereas both organizations shall bring expertise and knowledge by involving other reputed national and international agencies.
    g) The financial structure and revenue mechanism shall be prepared jointly by both the organizations depending upon the needs and requirements.
