Students Code of Conduct

Students must wear the approved college uniform on all working days.
Students must wear their college ID cards in a visible manner at any time inside the campus.
Students must ensure that they attend their theory and practical classes regularly. Absentees must submit leave applications duly signed by parents/ guardian/ hostel warden next day itself to the class tutor. Any late submission of leave application will not be entertained.
Students must note that they will loose half-days attendance even if they are one hour late.
Students must observe strict silence in between class hours.
Students are prohibited from bringing mobile phones inside classrooms, labs, library, office etc.
Ragging is a criminal offence. Any kind of ragging is strictly prohibited both inside and outside the campus.
Students must not idle away their time in the veranda, porticos and staircase of any of the college buildings under the pretext of group study. Instead they should spend their free time inside the library and in their own class rooms.
A separate room in the Main block is allotted to girls students. They are advised to utilize this facility in case they are not spending their free time in library or classrooms. Under no circumstances should they wander around inside the campus. Students in the ladies hostel must report at the hostel once the library hours are over.
On holidays if there is no special class student will not be allowed to enter the campus without any legitimate reason.
Classrooms will be closed within ten minutes after regular classes are over. Students are answerable to any staff member for their overstay in the campus once the college buses leave the campus. However during study leave respective class rooms will be kept open for group study from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.
Students must not use the facility at college canteen for reading writing, group study etc.
Students must request the staff-in-charge of Sports and Games, N.SS, Nature club etc to supervise their activities inside or outside the campus.
Students must get the consent of the Director before they plan to go for study/sight seeing trips. At least two regular staff members must accompany the students on tour.
For Internal examinations students must occupy their seats five minutes before the scheduled commencement of examinations.
For University examinations no student will be allowed to remain in the vicinity of the examination hall once the examinations begins.
Any staff member, who finds students violating the above-cited code of conduct, will report the same to the class tutor who, in turn, will inform the parents.
Any violations of code of conduct will be seriously viewed and will be punished.

Outside the college campus students must behave in a manner befitting to a student of engineering, there by upholding the dignity and pride of RIST. To have a serene, disciplined and model campus the students are requested to extend their wholehearted co-operation in implementing the above cited code of conduct successfully .

Dress Code

SUMMER

Brown Trousers and Cream Shirts, Black Shoes with White Socks & Neck Tie.
Alternative for Girls: Brown Salwar with Cream Kameej and Black Shoe without Lace white Socks & Scarf.

WINTER

Same as above with Brown Blazers/ Sweaters and Neck Tie.

Student won't be allowed to attend classes without uniforms and shoes.

Boarders Code of Conduct

All Students residing at College Hostel are required to follow the following Rules and Regulations, which may be amended from time to time.
Each boarder shall have to pay an Admission Fees which is non refundable and one month hostel charge to be paid in advance. (to be intimated during the time of admission)
If admission into hostel is made with accommodation provided on any date between 1st and 15th day of a month then hostel charges shall have to paid for the entire 15 days in full.
The boarder who leaves the hostel permanently on any day of the hostel month shall pay full seat rent of the hostel.
All boarders are required to pay their advance monthly rent within the first five days of new month. Otherwise Rs 50/- per day will be charged as fine.
Mess dues are not required for the vacation periods during which boarders are not supposed to be in the hostel. But the seat rent, Electricity and water charges shall have to be paid for the vacation periods and holidays.
No audio-video systems shall be played in the hostel or in the vicinity of the building that disturbs the environment both inside and outside the hostel.
Smoking, Gambling, Drinking Wine and other alcoholic beverages are totally prohibited both inside & outside the hostel.
Any border leaving the hostel has to sign the entry exit registered which will be in the wardens custody.
Boarders are required to return to the hostel latest by 7.30 pm. during summer and 6.30 pm. during winters.
All boarders should rise up maximum by 6.30 AM in the morning.
Allotment of rooms shall be totally at the sole discretion of the management.
No outsider shall be allowed to stay at the hostel.
Hostel resources are to be used properly according to the needs and requirements. Any misuse/ mishandling of hostel resources shall amount to penalty.
Using of electrical appliances is strictly prohibited.
Usage of the Kitchen by the students shall not be permitted under any circumstances and neither shall the students can prepare their own foods.
Boarders are ordered to keep their belongings at their own risk. Hostel authority is not responsible for missing of any item from the room.
Any student intended to study beyond 11.30 PM should do so by using their own table lamp, so that other students are not disturbed.
Students should not loiter in the college campus with their casuals clothings (such as shorts, banian, Lungis, sleepers etc) any one found guilty will be punished as per rule.
All Students should take their Lunch & Dinner at the designated time with proper dress code. (no casuals)
All boarders have to keep their room and surroundings neat and clean. Disciplinary action will be taken in case of defacing the walls or campus of the Hostel.
Communication with the guardian will be made from time to time if needed for which the student may not be informed.
Without written and physical appearance of the boarders parents/Guardians nobody can leave the hostel permanently.
All boarders have to give 15th days prior notice to the Hostel Authority in case of leaving hostel before completing one year. He should give the rent of three months as compensation.
If any instance of ragging is detected the perpetrator (s) will be penalized as per law.
Grievances, if any, must be reported in writing to the Hostel In charge/ Chairman, ERDF.
Visitors will be allowed to meet the boarder only on sunday between 3 to 6 p.m within hostel (visiting Room) premises itself.
The local guardians have to be introduced to the hostel warden by the parents themself & authorized the same.

Anti-Ragging Policy

As per the direction of the Honble Supreme Court of India, the institute will strictly follow the UGC regulation on curbing the menace in higher Educational Institutions 2009. In accordance with these regulation the admitted student as well the parents concern must have to submit two individual affidavits as per format.

Statutory Warning

Ragging of any student is a criminal offence and stringent measures have to be taken for curbing the menace of ragging in educational institutions. RIST administration is very concious of its responsibilities in this regard and students and parents need not harbour undue apprehensions, and should report any incident immediately to the college authorities, and stringent punishment will be meted out to the culprit. The Statutory warning displayed below is also displayed in the college under instructions from the University Grant Commission(UGC).

If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel him from the institution.� Any students facing any problem in this regard should immediately report the matter to the Anti- ragging Committee constituted in the college.

Fines & Penalty

All students are required to have a minimum of 85 % attendance. Other wise they will be liable for fine and also be debarred from appearing in the semester exams.
All students are required to pay their tuition fee as per the schedule given during the time of Admission, otherwise they are liable to pay late fine.
All students are required to return their books from the library on time other wise they have to pay fine.
All boarders are required to pay their advance monthly rent within the first five days of new month. Otherwise Rs 50/- per day will be charged as fine.
All students have to obtain NOC/clearance from the respective departments (Hostel, Accounts, HOD, and Library) in order to be eligible for sitting in the University semester exam.
