MoU on Food Processing Research and Training Signed between USTM and IIFPT
02nd Feb, 2018 171Guwahati, 2 February 2018: To enhance the cutting edge research and innovations, USTM has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (IIFPT), Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt of India on Friday, 2 February 2018. This collaboration with the premier institute of the country will to facilitate a collaborative program of research, training, curriculum, institutional development, information dissemination, and exchange of faculty, students and staff.

Presently, the Department of Food Science & Technology of USTM is running successfully the Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science & Technology and planning to start the Masters Programme from the next academic session along with the food processing unit. The MoU has become effective immediately. It shall continue in effect for a period of three years and may be extended by mutual agreement.
On the occasion of signing of the MoU at USTM, insightful deliberations were presented by Dr. C. Anandharamakrishnan, Director, Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology and one of the most accomplished Scientists of the country. The Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology is a reputed R&D and educational institution under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India. IIFPT offers B. Tech, M. Tech, and Ph. D programs in Food Process Engineering, M. Tech in Food Science and Technology and PhD in Biotechnology. In pursuance of its corporate goals, IIFPT has forged strong links with and between the scientific and industrial community in India and abroad. The Institute has formal agreements with major R&D organizations/Universities for collaborative research, student and faculty exchange programs.
