RIST celebrates National Education Day-2015

Along with the whole nation Regional Institute of Science & Technology celebrated the National Education Day on 11th November, 2015 at its techno city campus to mark the contribution of India’s great freedom movement leader Maulana Abul Kalam Azad in nation building.

While welcoming the meeting Dr. P.C. Mahanta, Director, RIST threw light on the illustrious life of the eminent educationist Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. Dr. N.K. Chaudhury, Former VC, GU and Principal Advisor, ERDF graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The meeting was followed by deliberations of speech by students of different departments of the front ranking engineering institute of the region. Mr Abul Wasar from Computer Science and Engineering delivered a speech on the impact of Computer Science in the field of education. He mentioned on how Computer Science has impressed upon us the vast possibilities for better education. Wasar lucidly shared with us how computers have reshaped the educational scenario of the society.

Ms Sagorika Kalita of Electronics and Communication Engineering addressed the gathering on how electronics has broken the technical barriers to usher in a new era of modern technology. She also mentioned how electronics have even crept into our classrooms- use of digital boards.

The next speaker, Ms Sagorika Raj Chakraborty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, elaborated on how electrical technology has revolutionized various aspects of science and technology making lives better. Mohammad Hussain of Civil Engineering in a very brief speech told about the impact of Civil Engineering on modern technology. Abdul Kamson Ghani, Electronics and Communication Engineering delivered a brief yet invigoration presentation on the legendary soul, Maulana Azad.

Dr. N.K. Chaudhury while paying homage to the soul of Moulana Azad enlightened the audience on India’s freedom struggle and Maulana Azad’s role in it. He also highlighted on his contribution to the field of education.Various statutory bodies,commissions and institutions such as UGC, AICTE,IITs etc were established under the minister ship of Moulana Azad which paved the way for holistic education in India. He appreciated all the student speakers and encouraged everyone present to impart to the society through the means of education. He also focused on Indian innovation in engineering.

The meeting concluded with a speech followed by Vote of Thanks by Dr. U.K. Sarma, Executive Director, RIST.
