9th Mile, Ri Bhoi, March 11: The Department of Rural Development of University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya celebrated women hood on the International Women’s Day by organising free health check-up camp and free blood test in the All Kling Dorbar, Meghalaya. The All Kling Dorbar is a cluster of 12 villages where women hardly get chance to come out for health check-ups in hospitals.
To encourage the local products produce by the village women, the Department also organised an Exhibition cum sale at USTM premise where the products had been sold out entirely in within hours. A free Eye Check-up camp and distribution of free eye medicine was also organised in association with Guwahati Eye Hospital. “The noble way to celebrate women’s day is to help those women who are far away from the idea of Women’s Day and that is why the Department of RD always celebrates Women’s Day with the rural women in the vicinity of USTM campus by organising free health camps,†said Papiya Dutta, HOD of Department of Rural Development, USTM.
