Celebration of 73rd I-Day at USTM Campus

9th Mile, RiBhoi, August 16, 2019: Entire campus of the University of Science & Technology-Meghalaya bloomed with the tri-colour and the spirit of a large number of students and other participants grew high with patriotic speeches, music, dance celebrating the 73rd Independence Day yesterday in a grand and exemplary manner. The National Flag was unfurled at 8:30 am in the University campus by Shri Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor, USTM along with Dr PK Goswami, Vice Chancellor of the University. The flag hoist was followed by the National Anthem and speeches on Independence delivered by the USTM Chancellor, Vice Chancellor and others.

Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque inspired and motivated each and every students, staff as well as guest participants with his Independence Day speech delivered in a much patriotic note. Addressing the large gathering, Shri Hoque said, “We should never forget the great sacrifices made by the Freedom Fighters in order to bring Independence for India. Educational institutions are to inculcate a sense of patriotism amidst the students as they are the future of the country”. Dr PK Goswami said that students must look up to the great national personalities and respect the spirit of the Constitution of India.

A colourful cultural display was presented by the university students enthralling all the participants. The function ended with prize distribution to the winners of various competitions held by different departments on the occasion of the Independence Day. The function was participated by a considerable number of students, teachers, staff members and invited guests.
