9th Mile, Ri Bhoi, 15 February 2018: The 5th edition of North East Graduate Congress (NEGC), one of the flagship programmes hosted by USTM, will be held from 16 to 18 February 2018 at the University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya. The mega youth event, where thousands of students from more than 200 colleges across the north-eastern region will participate, aims at preparing and enhancing all round development of the future graduates through guiding them and placing them in a position where they can decide what next after graduation. The objective is to make them responsible youth and accountable citizens of this country.
The mega event will be formally launched by Prof Jagdish Mukhi, Governor of Assam at 10 am on 17 February. The inaugural will be graced by Sri C K Das, IAS (retd.), Member, NEC; Prof. Ved Prakash, former Chairman, UGC; Sri R S Mooshahary, former Meghalaya Governor; Sri Dilip Tirkey, MP, Olympian and former Captain of Indian Hockey team; Prof. Bhabesh Chandra Goswami, VC, Cotton University, apart from other dignitaries.
The Cultural procession in the morning will be flagged off by the Assam Governor which is a magnificent display of the culture of the eight north-eastern states showcasing the region in its brightest way. On the same day, the Governor of Assam will also lay the foundation stone of Srimanta Sankardev Block of USTM.
The competitions include: debate, quiz, best graduate, apart from the various sports and cultural competitions. Separate sessions will be held on personality development by the renowned motivational speaker Thomas John Rose, soft skill workshop, technical session on “Youth and Entrepreneurship†by Dr Nomal Bora, technical session on competitive exams by Sailen Baishya, national workshop for teachers titled “Extension Educationâ€, two panel discussions on “Youth, Politics and Corruption†and “Women for Societyâ€. Prizes and awards worth more than 10 lakhs will be given away to the winners of various competitions. All the participants will get certificates.
