RIST Students shines in GATE

ERD Foundation which is the largest educational network in North East running different institutions with a motto of unveiling excellence and bring out the potential of the students of this region with proper training and support.

And it is proved again that the initiatives have not gone in vein as the number of students from USTM and RIST have cleared various national level examinations with flying colours. To aspire their hard work and dedication, a felicitation program has been organised where UPSC-IES-2016 topper Mr Idul Ahmed was present as distinguished guest.
The students of USTM and RIST who have been felicitated were, Khikeya Semy (MSc Botany), Miss Moirangthem Veigyabati (MSc Zoology), Tariat Matey(MSc Zoology) for clearing CSIR NET – JRF and Lilika k Zhimomi (MA Rural Development) for clearing UGC –NET 2016 from USTM and from RIST, Sudipta Nayan Puzari(CE), K Vitoka Awomi (EEE), Ankur Jyoti Phukan (CSE), Souvik Dey (CE) for clearing GATE examination. Miss Delan Rongpipi, BSc 6th sem, Applied Biology, USTM who has qualified the IIT-JAM examination to pursue her Masters studies in IIT Guwahati was also felicitated on the occasion.
Earlier many of the students from both USTM and RIST have qualified national level examinations and this year many of the students missed for only few marks. The teachers are very hopeful that next year more success will knock the doors of ERDF institutions.
In the same occasion UPSC-IES-2016 topper Mr Idul Ahmed was also felicitated for his achievement and making North East region proud. While addressing the students Mr Idul Ahmed urged the students to give effort to qualify national level examinations, whereas students from other states are cracking the examinations. Shri Mahbubul Hoque during the felicitation program stated that he is extremely happy seeing the achievements of the students and hopeful that many more students will qualify the national level examinations in coming years and the existing students should take it as a challenge and work hard rest all sort of support and training will be provided from the Foundation.
It is also worth mentioning that under the flagship program of ERDF if any student can qualify Indian Civil Service examination a amount of Rs two lakhs will be given to him/her for the achievement. Till date the achievers of UGC-NET have got back the entire amount of course fees as it promised by the Chairman ERD Foundation and Chancellor USTM Shri Mahbubul Hoque. The students of RIST will also be given an amount of fifty thousand rupees for qualifying any national level examination.
Dr R K Sarma, Pro-Vice Chancellor, USTM, Prof Amarjyoti Choudhury, CV Raman Chair Professor, USTM, Prof Alaka Sarma, Dean, Students Welfare, Dr SC Das, Dean, SOBS, USTM, Dr P.C Mahanta, Director, RIST along with higher officials of both USTM and RIST, faculty members and students were present on the occasion.
