RIST SIGNS MoU WITH NIT SILCHAR

A MoU has been signed between National Institute of Technology, Silchar (NITS) and ERD Foundation on 29th November, 2014.

The MOU between NIT Silchar, an institution of national importance and one of the best Technical Institutes in the country and the group of Institutions under ERDF provides a road map in relation to future cooperation. The collaboration provides that NITS will guide Regional Institute of Science and Technology (RIST), the Engineering College of ERD Foundation affiliated under NEHU, in academic promotion specially in the field of basic sciences, management and technology, by mentoring and training the faculties, by syllabus up gradation and taking the special classes by NITS Faculty and jointly organising seminars. NIT Silchar will also guide RIST in administration and quality faculty recruitment.
 

In the sphere of research NIT Silchar will guide RIST in managing the research programmes and mentor the research scholars. NIT Silchar will also guide the faculties in preparing Detailed Projects Reports (DPR) for projects and collaborative activities by taking lead. Both RIST and NITS will exchange research information and experienced researchers will promote research in Science & Technology between them. The Institutions will reciprocally facilitate Science based innovation and fact findings resulting into business development activities. NITS will also guide RIST in upgrading infrastructure like laboratories,equipments,library,class rooms, recreational facilities,hostel,campus maintenance by providing necessary specifications and operational guidance where required.
 

The cooperation will bring benefit to the Engineering students of RIST from the placement machinery of NIT Silchar. This will also open the doors to faculties of RIST to go for higher education and research at NIT Silchar
 

The MoU has been signed with the mission to create technical and professional manpower and knowledge base in the region conducive for attracting industries from across the country for investment and employment generation so as to stop the exodus of North East students outside the region for higher education and job opportunities.
 

During this august gathering, it has been decided that NIT Silchar, RIST and other top class institutes of the region will be in mutual connection through internet by HPC technology.
The MOU was signed by Prof. N. V. Deshpande, Director for NIT Silchar and Mr Mahbubul Hoque, Chairman of ERD Foundation in presence of Directors and representatives of various NITs of the North Eastern region and high officials of CSIR and ERDF.
 

Prof. Deshpande who had recently visited the Schools, Institutes and the University established by M. Hoque under the aegis of ERD Foundation, had appreciated the efforts of this young man specially for the education of underprivileged downtrodden rural students. He further assured all kinds of support from NIT Silchar to the institutes under the foundation.
